Interesting

Filed under: Silly Somethings — Joy @ 7:32 pm

You can tell so much about someone by checking out what they are purchasing in their cart. This is fascinating to me for some reason. For instance the Lady behind me this week must have been shopping for her kids. She was a middle-aged woman but yet she was buying 4 packages of Oreos and tons of frozen snacks. Well, I guess that she was buying for her teenage kids or just having a really really bad day! :) Check out other peoples carts next time you are shopping it adds a little fun to the trip and makes you think what in the world!

Always An Adventure Awaiting

Another trip to Wal-Mart today, but this one was much better than the last. Charis came in the Baby Bjorn which by the way is just a must have with a kid. It is great to be able to carry Charis around without worrying too much about her. I do wonder though if her toes or nose get cold when I open the door to get the frozen concentrate OJ. Anyway, I made it through the whole store with a few stops along the way for people to say hi to her. I chose my check out line and I felt good with my choice. The lady in front of me was older and she was there with her husband and they were almost done checking out but she kept getting closer and closer to me. I was getting a little freaked out and then she looked at Charis and said, I kid you not the lady said, “What a fat baby you are”. Poor Charis just smiled at the lady. I did not really know what to do with the lady either but she was just speaking her mind so we made small talk and then the Lord used her to totally bless me. The lady was older as I had mentioned but she still helped me put every last item up on the checkout. What a blessing! The Lord really used that in my day to show me His love. I think that I miss these moments many times. I miss the moments to show others His love and I miss moments when He is showing me His love. I am very thankful for the lady that the Lord put in my path today. What a sweet blessing and to think that I could of missed part of the adventure if I would of shut her out after her comment.

Come On Free Charis!

Filed under: Family, Look At Her Grow, Silly Somethings — Joy @ 3:17 pm

With Charis’s last check up we have learned that she is quickly out growing her infant car seat. With the word quickly I mean that she has two more pounds to go before she is at the weight limit. Plus it is almost impossible to carry the infant car seat with Charis in it. I usually just leave the seat in the car. We do have the new car seat and it is sitting in our dining room. Why you ask is it not in the car…what is the point of this entry in the blog you ask? Well, we do not have the next size car seat for Brad’s car. What you ask…why does that matter you ask…that makes no sense you say…this I know. Brad wants a car seat for his car as well so that Charis will be able to ride in his car also. He does not want her to like my car more than his car or something along those lines. Poor Charis is stuck in an almost too small car seat with her little feet hanging out and her head busting out the top. Now, Brad would comment at this part and say that it says on the manufactures website that it is okay if their feet hang out. That is fine but when you see Charis in the car seat you say to yourself, “self, this child is too large for this seat.” The time has come for the new car seat to be put in my car! Now everyone post your comment about how the time has come for the new car seat and free Charis from this little itty bitty seat. :)

What A Big Fish!

Filed under: Look At Her Grow — Joy @ 2:56 pm

Charis had her 6-month check up and she is quite the little grower! She is already just shy of 20 pounds and she is 28 inches long. I think that she is trying to catch up with her daddy quickly. The nurse commented on how most parents are frustrated because their little ones have not reached the 20 pound mark by their first birthday so they have to wait to turn the car seat around (you have to be over 20 pounds and 1 year old to face the car seat forward). Not so with Charis she is well on her way! She did really well with her shots this time and it totally did not faze her when they pricked her finger to take blood. She does not get that from her mother let me tell you, that is yet another daddy thing. I had to go get myself a treat after taking Charis to the doctor. Pitiful, I know. I cannot stand shots or doctors or just uggh! Charis does have the best doctor that I could ask for though, that is a blessing.

What A Cute Cow!

Filed under: Happenings, Look At Her Grow — Joy @ 5:56 pm

Charis is the cutest cow ever! She looked absolutely adorable in the costume (again I am not biased)! It almost seemed like she knew that she was cute as well. She would smile with a big grin when putting on the costume, although when she saw herself in the mirror she did not know what to make of the whole get up. We visited our neighbors, which was a fun thing and took much longer than I anticipated (she was just that cute). It was fun to let the grandparents see her as well. They mooed all over her! Okay, lame joke. There is nothing like a cute cow…unless it is a cute chocolate cow I suppose. :)

Help Me!

Filed under: Happenings — Joy @ 4:43 pm

I went to the grocery store today, which was too much for an already busy day, but we were out of things like food for instance. It was Charis’s “naptime” (naptime is in quotes because it is her naptime but she does not know it yet) but I decided that I would just haul the baby carrier in and see if she would sleep anyway. I usually carry her in the Baby Bjorn strapped to me since I can use the cart more that way. Wal-mart just got new carts that do not work with our baby carrier so you have to put the carrier in the big basket part where the groceries should go. Now just a word about this baby carrier…I never haul it in anywhere because it is just way too heavy with Charis in it now. I think that she is right at exceeding the limit for it anyway. Back to the story…grocery shopping is not the problem, I can make things fit in the cart around the carrier. Now the problem comes when you check out and they put all the items into bags. Before we even get there though I had done all my shopping and gotten to the checkout and started putting all the stuff on the conveyer belt when I realized that I did not get the cereal that Brad had asked for. Gee Gollies! There was a very nice older woman behind me and she said that if I left my cart she would save my space. Well, that was nice and all but my cart had precious cargo in it like say my child and I did not know this woman so I decided to load all the groceries back in my cart to go get the cereal because I wanted to keep my cargo with me. J We got the cereal and we were back in line behind the older woman who had originally wanted to watch my precious cargo for me. It should have been a sign right then that the woman was still in line a sign that should of said to me hey this line is moving slower than molasses but no it did not register. Finally, I make it to the point where it is my turn. Of course it is a new cashier and I am totally supportive and encouraging to her but then she tells me that my card is invalid and I am thinking there is no way in this world that I am going through this shopping trip again. She points to the sign that mentions the invalidness and I am just thinking there is no way in the world. I read the sign and it says that she pushed an invalid key. I explained to her what the sign said and she thought that I was off my rocker. She asked me to keep sliding my card thru the machine and eventually we get everything paid for. I am sure that I paid for everything about four times but we shall see on the next statement from the bank. :) You would think at this point I would be home free but no…I had to make it to the car with all those bags that all my groceries were now in. I crammed a few bags under the cart and around the baby carrier and then I was carrying the rest. Well, I am on my way out of the store when the milk decides to fall out from under the cart. I hear a lady from behind me saying your milk your milk hoping that someone else will pick it up so she will not have to. This very very nice man picks it up for me and I just decide to carry it as well. Now I am pushing the cart with one hand with bags draped on my arm and carrying the milk in the other hand. The same lady (you know the milk lady) is still following me and she just keeps saying, “bless your heart you even have a baby in there”. I am thinking to myself stop blessing me and please help me. She walked on with her empty hands and half empty cart to her car. I proceeded to my car to get the groceries and the precious cargo into the car. This trip made me realize how important it is to help people out or at least offer when they look like they have their hands full because as I experienced sometimes they really do have their hands full! FYI, I did finally make it home and get all the groceries put away. Whew!
