Jell-o Cookies

Filed under: Cool Sites,Recipes,Silly Somethings — Joy @ 6:56 pm

What you say? I have gone crazy you say! Jell-o is jell-o and not a cookie…oh but it is I say! I made some yummy cookies today if I do say so myself. I signed up on Kraft’s website to receive their recipe magazine food & family (for free mind you) and it had this intriguing recipe for jell-o cookies (see link below). I decided what the hay why not try something new and different, as I love different things! They are so tasty! You can make them in any jell-o flavor as you might imagine but I did strawberry as I was going for the festive holiday look. I am making lime next so I will keep you posted. They taste like little strawberry cakes. Yummy!

  1. Joy… you’re my hero. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what to make for our Cookie Swap that I (on a whim) signed up for. I think these will be JUST the thing! Thanks for posting that link!!!!! :) :) :)

  3. Carrie, I hope that they go over well for the cookie swap. They are simple as I mentioned and it should be no problem to multiply the recipe. I hope that you enjoy them!!!

Um, cake cookies are not Brad’s favorite. I think that if he wants cake he wants cake and if he wants a cookie then a cookie it is. He ate one but he just said that it was “different” which I clearly stated in the post. Different is not really his thing. I think that they are great, but you already knew that.

  5. I really need to learn my limits. ;) Cooking? No problem – Baking? Questionable. After 1 fully blown out mixer (it was SMOKING – had to run to Super Target for a replacement), 1 batch of slightly “off” strawberry cookies, I finally got it closer to ‘right’ with the lime. :) The strawberry ones are more like crunchy little cookies – not a bad flavor, but the consistency is all wrong. The lime turned out MUCH better (that new Oster Mixer ROCKED!). Well, all of them except the batch we sort of forgot about in the oven… those sort of didn’t make it (but I’m sure the smell will linger for days).
If anything, it gives me another reason to get my Kitchen Aid stand up mixer.
I don’t suppose you had any issues with slinging the butter sugar mix all over the kitchen or flour coating everything in a 10 foot radius? ;)
Still – it was a fun recipe, and the lime turned out so good, I’ll have to do it again (now that I have a bit of a clue what this baking stuff is all about). ;)
Thanks again, Joy – if it didn’t produce the best cookies (due to the baker – not the recipe), it sure did produce a lot of entertainment value and a comedy of errors. :)

  6. Carrie, I am so sorry that you had such a hard time and I am sorry about the smell as well. Gee! First of all LOVE my KitchenAid mixer and it is a must have!!! If you watch Amazon sometimes they have GREAT sales on them. FYI! :) I did not have issues with the butter/sugar going everywhere because I softened the butter a little too much in the microwave so I guess that you did not have trouble with the butter all over your microwave. :) The flour however was EVERYWHERE it was even on Charis. I know poor kid! If you do not make a mess when you cook then you are not really cooking! ;) I may try the lime tomorrow so I am excited to know that they are tasty! I am proud of you for trying the recipe!
