Peekers
I feel that I am all alone in the world! I always thought that I was normal until this year. Brad has given me such a bad time over the years about my need to know what a present is before it is time to know. Essentially, I am a peeker and a snoop! I know that this comes as a shock and surprise to many of you but it is true! I will admit it. I just love to know what is in that box and pretty paper! Everyone says that I am ruining the surprise, trust me it is still a surprise though and I am still excited when I open it for real as well because then I can take it out of the package to actually use!!! I generally can guess what the package is without opening it as well. Brad’s mom found this out last year. After all these years she finally found me out. My mom has known for a very long time. I am not sure how she figured it out but moms know these things. When I was little I use to open my presents that I could not figure out and then rewrap them. I am really good at the tape and then lining it back up just so.
Sad, I know. Anyways, we had our bible study the other night and out of 14 people I was the only peeker. This was devastating to me thus began my quest to find other peekers. I think that I may be all alone though but I just find this hard to believe. We had dinner group tonight and I asked them if they were peekers and still none! I cannot explain my devastation about all the good little boys and girls in the world. I mean does it not just eat at you to know what is in that pretty little wrapped package? I am just a snoop! So much so that Brad keeps my gifts in his office until Christmas Eve. The sad thing is…it is not just my gifts. I love to guess other peoples gifts as well. That is how Brad’s mom found out about my guessing abilities last year. I just had to know if I was correct or not on something for Brad’s dad and she was amazed. It is such a fun game to me. I will even peek at others gifts. It is too much fun! Well, I guess I just want to know if there are any other present peekers out there. Anyone?
Kevin is a peeker or was until everyone wised up. Now, no one puts his gifts out until right before Christmas. He also can not keep a secret to save his life. If he knows what someone is getting you he will tell you. He is awful! Gina says he used to unwrap his gifts as a child then rewrap them like you did! Don’t feel bad, you do have company with this. (However, I am not sure it makes you feel better that it is Kevin keeping you company!

Maybe it is an only child thing!? I am glad that there is at least one other person in my boat though!

Lois Cox is TOTALLY a peeker…and she can’t wait to give gifts at the right time, either. She gives them early, and wants you to open them right then.
When I was growing up, the three of us always peeked (ususally together) – so we could make sure everything got taped up right.

*Raises Hand* Like you, Joy, I would open everything under the tree and rewrap it (I’d get in trouble for this every year…I wasn’t as crafty with the rewrapping as you are). The hiding place my parents typically chose was the trunk of the car (I got skilled at picking trunk locks after a couple years of this – then I just would get keys during the year and have extras made).
I’ve had to hunt …and sometimes in some crazy places (but I can get into just about anywhere). hehe
I’m also an incredible guesser as well. My mom gets SOOOOO mad at me. She’ll try to “disguise” the boxes by throwing in change, or other objects to give it a ‘rattle’ and throw me off. One year I got a sweater – picked up the box, shook it, claimed it was a sweater from The Limited and some mixed change under $.30 – It was – one sweater and 2 dimes, 1 nickel and 3 pennies to be exact. Mom threw up her hands and walked out of the room. hehehe
Needless to say, I’m about the peekiest peeker there is.
To you others out there – I’m the oldest of 5.

You know, I was a peeker but then I wasn’t too excited when I really got the present cause I knew what it was. I also never got the hang of the tape. However, I do love to guess by the shape and weight of it. And then I am even more excited if I’m right!
I’ll admit that I love people to open my presents when I give them to them. I don’t like to wait. Which is why I was so excited that you opened it/peeked early. That’s what I wanted but nobody ever wants to open them early. What a perfect pair we are!

You don’t know how difficult it is being the Mom of a “Peeker” I thought about sending her to PA -(Peekers Annonymous) or even going myself to see how to “help” her but by the time I found out about this I figured it was too late. You know what they say once a Peeker always a Peeker! Nevertheless,I love her and time will only tell how much generational damage has been done and if Charis will not grow up to be a “peeker”
