Zonked

Filed under: Silly Somethings — Joy @ 11:55 am

Charis has been a little under the weather lately and she has been waking up early in the morning coughing but she usually goes back to sleep. She never cried this morning but I heard her coughing and then all was silent so I knew that she drifted back to sleep. She kept sleeping and sleeping and finally I went into wake her up. I guess when she was coughing she woke herself up and sat up in her bed but found that she was still quite tired and just fell over back to sleep. When I found her in her crib her feet where up by her head just like she had sat up with her legs spread open and then fallen right back down her head in between her feet. It was pretty funny! This just proves that if she is really really tired she can sleep…no matter what position she is in.

Global Problems

Filed under: Baby Gizmos, Happenings, Silly Somethings — Joy @ 11:45 am

Charis has the Hug and Learn Globe from Leap Frog and at first glance it is really kind of neat. Kids can start learning early about the world and it plays neat catchy tunes. The thing is when it is on every time it rolls or moves it plays a neat catchy tune and when it is your child’s favorite toy of the moment the neat catchy tune becomes quite annoying. The globe has a tag on it as well with all the manufacturing information; we always keep the tags on Charis’s toys because she LOVES tags. She enjoys carrying the globe around by the tag causing it to play its little tune constantly. Yesterday even Charis got tired of the music after crawling around with the globe for about 15 minutes she crawled to me with the globe in hand and started crying as soon as I turned the globe off the crying ceased. It was quite humorous! This morning she wanted the globe on again and began crawling around the house dragging the globe by the tag. Anytime I tried to turn off the globe she would cry. Anytime I got near her and acted like I was going to take the globe away she would cry. She is pretty passionate about this globe. It is interesting to see what she gets attached to and how she reacts to things. If the globe keeps being her favorite toy and she only likes it on we may have to accidentally miss place it soon just for my sanity.

Praying Hands

Filed under: Happenings, Look At Her Grow — Joy @ 11:01 pm

For the past few months I have been praying with Charis before she eats. It has been a sweet time before every meal to just take a minute and pray with her. The neat thing is now when I say, “Lets pray!” she will put her hands together to pray. Brad decided that parents made up the holding your hands together when you pray to keep little hands from being everywhere especially in the food. I think that he just might be right! It is amazing to see the impact and influence that you can have on children even at such a young age. Charis does not yet know exactly what is going on but she knows it is something that we do and that it is special.

Daddy’s Home

Filed under: Family, Happenings, Silly Somethings — Joy @ 10:59 pm

Charis and I are so excited to have DaDa back home with us! Brad was gone for the weekend on a men’s retreat through church. Charis knew that her DaDa was missing! Every now and then she would look around and say DaDaDaDaDa. She would eventually give up when he did not peek around a corner. She did keep trying though. She is so happy to have her DaDa home!

Mountain Climber

Chairs has turned into a real climber. She loves any obstacle to achieve! She will tackle anything from a pile of pillows and the stairs to just climbing over me. Nothing seems to stop her, as she is quite determined. She has even been known to climb over her toy basket. It is amazing to watch the determination on her face. I think that she may have a little bit of me in there with her strong will. Oh my that is scary!

Marshmallow Truffles

Filed under: Recipes — Joy @ 10:11 pm

This is a great recipe idea for something that can be dressy for a dinner party or just fun for the kids. There is definitely an art to it and it takes a little time but they are actually a lot of fun to make! I ended up using a skewer stick to stick the marshmallow on and then dipped it in the chocolate. To release the marshmallow without knocking it over and making a mess I just used a fork. I ran the skewer through the fork tines and pulled the stick out and then used the skewer again to push the dipped marshmallow off of the fork. It sounds complicated but I promise that it isn’t. My clever brain wheel was turning this morning and I came up with the idea of sprinkling crushed graham crackers on top as well for the smores taste. Clever, I know! Unfortunately I did not have any graham crackers so I cannot report on the taste of that but I can report that the taste of the Marshmallow Truffles is a quite tasty one. I hope that everyone enjoys these!
