I totally support your movie first, book second method! I pick what book to read next based on what's playing on Turner Classic Movies...I always check the opening credits for the original book title/author --just in case I love the movie and want to read the real thing! :)

Congratulations Joy! Jane Austen books are hard, but they are the best, especially if you have a romantic soul. I highly recommend Pride and Prejudice. It is, next to the Anne of Green Gables series, my absolute favorite book. When I want to read but can't find anything, I "resort" (if you could call it that) to Pride and Prejudice. I do admit that Wishbone (that little dog series) first turned me on to it. I'm also reading Emma, who I think is by Jane Austen. So keep going, they are well work the time and brain power.

YEA for you! I understand about needing encouragement to get into a book sometimes. I've almost always found that the book is better than the movie, but sometimes the movie is just what we need all the same!
