From Boppy To Bumbo

Filed under: Baby Gizmos, Happenings, Silly Somethings — Joy @ 9:20 pm

I was chatting with Charis this evening and she was telling me all about the things in the room that were for Cai. We have begun to pull more and more out as the day approaches and Charis has had fun leaning about all these new items. She is pretty inquisitive. As I said we were naming things and chatting tonight and it just kind of struck me when Charis started getting tongue tied what odd names some baby things have…fun names but odd! The Boppy and the Bumbo have proven to be the trickiest things as far as the tongue being tied it usually comes out as bupo! We had a good silly laugh over funny names for a bit. It was pretty entertaining but I do wonder where these names come from sometimes!

A Place To Rest

Filed under: Baby Gizmos, Happenings — Joy @ 3:37 pm

Yep, still pregnant! But Cai now has a place to rest his head so that he can make his big appearance anytime now! :) We have used this weekend to set up the Pack-N-Play (a place to rest downstairs) as well as the Portable Crib. We already had set up the second crib in Charis’s room as eventually Charis and Cai will share a room but we have to get the little man sleeping through the night first. Until then we have the Portacrib set up in the office where he can take his late night feedings without waking the rest of the household. It was really fun to see the Portacrib come together! Brad picked out the bedding and it is just really fun and cute and looks pretty cozy I must admit! We have had the Portacrib since Christmas and the bedding since a little after that so to have all the packaging gone and things really put together must mean that things are getting close!!! There is hope! ;) I am excited to see the little one in their now. Charis “helped” us put the Portacrib together and is adjusting pretty well as far as we can tell. It took her a little bit to warm up to placing one of her stuffed animals in there but she did come around eventually. We are hoping that Cai will be a big fan of sleeping hence the three places to rest his head! Only time will tell that though but we are doing all that we can to encourage sleeping!

Creative Craft Bag

Amy Butler Craft Bags

I really enjoy Amy Butler’s fabric prints and sewing patterns! She uses amazing colors and bold designs and has a wonderful eye for these things. You can imagine my excitement when I came across this Craft Bag today while looking around A.C.Moore. It is actually affordable priced there at about $35.00 (but why not hold out for a coupon I always say) and oh so cute and stylish. It is a great size (I think) but Brad said that it is huge! It needs to be huge though for all the crafting items! Definitely something to check out as it is well organized, fun to carry and the perfect size! Just had to share my fun find of the day

A New Ride For The Kiddos

Filed under: Baby Gizmos, Happenings — Joy @ 2:22 pm

Peg Perego Tender MT Double Stroller Pattern: Toffee

We received a new double stroller for the kiddos at a recent shower. It was quite exciting as Brad and I had really gone back and forth over this decision of a double stroller. Should we get a front to back, a side by side or one of the caboose strollers that has a place for a little one and then the sibling gets to ride sitting on a platform or standing up. There were so many things to think through on this decision. I think that Brad might of preferred a side by side but we ended up with a front to back in the brand that he really liked so that was the compromise. We ended up with a Peg Perego Tender MT Double Stroller. After talking with a few people and getting their thoughts I just decided that the front to back would be better for us. The main winning reason being that a front to back will still allow me to go to Joanns and fit down the isles. The side by sides that we had looked at would have a hard time fitting down some of the isles specifically in the fabric department at my favorite store. I also like the idea of keeping the kiddos separate with no tugging or touching being possible with this option. They are kids and I am sure that they will find a way to reach each other but anything that I can at least pretend to prevent I am a fan of! We tried out the stroller with Charis after receiving it and she was a HUGE fan! She has a Cabbage Patch Kid that she calls Big Girl so Charis rode in front with Big Girl in the back and she LOVED every minute of it! It was hard to coax her out of the stroller. She asks to get it out when we go to the store now instead of the single stroller but we will wait for Cai’s big arrival before using the double stroller on a daily bases. One more great feature of the stroller is that the seats will lay flat so Cai will be able to take naps while Charis and I peruse the stores. That is what guys like to do anyways while the women shop (you know that you have seen them sitting in those uncomfortable chairs at the mall snoozing away) he will just be able to snooze in comfort.

Fresh Air

Filed under: Happenings, Outings — Joy @ 1:50 pm

I was kicked out of the house again Sunday evening and it was wonderful! Brad and I had gotten Charis down to sleep and I was just feeling really antsy which these days is pretty rare I must say! Brad told me to take off and when I would not budge he officially kicked me out! One of the local craft stores was having a “midnight”madness sale so they were open to 9:00pm so I headed that way. It was great because I was one of the only people in the store (I guess that they did not advertise to well) so I got to really take my time and browse which rarely happens with a two year old. After my browsing I headed to Wendy’s to get a treat for Brad and I. I have to admit though my favorite part of the outing was driving around with the windows down. I cannot usually do that with Charis in the car because with all the windows down it is too windy for her. There is just something so freeing to me about rolling the windows down, turning up the radio and driving the speed limit (of course) on some of the back roads around town. It feels like an escape infused with fresh air and just a total release of tension. It had been a warm day but with the sun setting, cooler temps settling in and all the little bug noises coming out it was fabulous. I just cannot say enough about it! Thanks again Babe for the boot out of the house and the fresh air!

Christmas Cards

Filed under: Crafty — Joy @ 9:50 pm

I know I know it is May and not anywhere near to December but when you stop and think it is really close especially if you are planning on having a baby between now and then! I spotted these super cute stamps by Clearly Wordsworth at Hobby Lobby a few months ago and tucked them away in the back of my mind. The thought of the stamps were still there a few months later and that is impressive for a pregnant mind so I decided that I really did want to use them for our Christmas cards this year. I am excited to think through what exactly they might look like but for now here is a sneak peak of the stamps!

Alexander and I

Filed under: Crafty — Joy @ 7:57 pm

Oh Alex and I are doing swell! He creates incredible fabrics and I buy them! We have this wonderful relationship for never meeting! I have posted before about Alexander Henry and his incredible fabrics but I have stumbled across more wonderful creations that I just had to share! I found these prints at Joann’s and again it was just a hit day that I stumbled across them. The lady who cut the fabric as well as the lady who checked me out commented on not seeing them before and just how wonderful the prints are! I hope that someday these will be cute little aprons or dishtowels we shall see but for now I shall just admired them and dream about what they can become. Oh, one last thing have you noticed how I am hording fabric these days? I have this great fear that baby number two will keep me in the house for a few weeks so I am thinking ahead and giving myself plenty to do after his arrival. Now in reality I know that I will be sleeping when I can as well as hanging out with Charis but this is just to put my mind at ease as it wonders if I will ever make it out of the house again. :) Silly I know but in the least I am prepared!

See Bucket Truck

Bucket Truck

At the age of two you just never know when a meltdown will occur! You cannot even see them coming often and they just appear from out of the blue! We had a jolly ole’ day today on our trip to the mall we saw two bucket trucks even and that was super cool! Charis had been in a super mood and we even had pictures taken this morning which she is not a big fan of but did great. After dinner Brad needed to run out and we decided to join him for the ride. We got to see a firetruck while we were out and two motorcycles which was again super cool. I believe that at some point during this time the meltdown switch was flipped. I am not sure how or why but this is where it began. Brad came back to the car after running in a store and Charis shared with him that we had seen a firetruck and two motorcycles then from no where she shared regarding the earlier spotting of the bucket trucks. All the way home she was asking to “see bucket truck”. I told her that they had all gone night night for the day and maybe we could see one tomorrow and Brad chimed in with they have all gone bye bye these our usual excuses did not work. Half way home she just melted we are talking crying and intense sadness over not seeing bucket trucks right then and before today she did not even know that they existed! Amazing to fall in love so quickly! We made it home and after one of our beloved stuffed animals and hugs and kisses we managed to calm down enough for bed only to be sad again once in bed. I do hope that we can see another bucket truck tomorrow or it could be a long day. Who really knows though as it just depends when and if the meltdown switch will still be flipped!
