I am a little last minute but I am planning on going to a shower tomorrow night so I needed a little something to give as a gift. It is a diaper and wipe shower so I wanted to keep with the theme but I also wanted to make the mommy a little something special so here it is! I decided to make a little bag to carry wipes and diapers in. I have made one for Charis in the past but I decided to come up with my own design this time and I am really excited with the way it turned out! I might have to make a new one for Charis soon but I was also thinking that these would make cute little purses as well. Hmmm!

So tonight I was just browsing around and don’t you know that I would come across more fabric that I would just happen to fall in love with! Joel Dewberry has some incredible fabrics to love!!! You will have to see for your self! Wow!

Mmm Mmm Good

After we had Cai some of our wonderful and dear friends were oh so kind to provide a few meals for us until I could get back into the swing of things. These are two of the cuter and more creative things that we received (keep in mind that every meal was a HUGE blessing but these two items were just fun and a little out of the ordinary)! The first is a Chicken Pot Pie (yes those are hearts all around the edge and in the middle) made by none other than Martha Stewart (not really but practically)! Our sweet friend must have spent some quality time on this as not only was it almost to beautiful to eat but it tasted INCREDIBLE as well! The second picture is just a fun little treat that another dear friend left for us. It is hard to tell in the picture but the ice cream cones are miniature! They are a perfect kid size when you do not want the kiddos to OD on sugar. Brad would generally have about 5 at a time to equal the size of a normal cone. They were quite fun!

Mama Got a New Kitchen

Filed under: Happenings — Joy @ 8:57 pm

That is practically a true statement but not quite! This has been the week of kitchen delivery’s as Brad and I purchased new appliances over the weekend! Yippee Skippy!!! We have been in our house for about 7 years now and for most of those seven years I have wished for new appliances although we did not need them by any means, however, recently our dishwasher started smelling very very hot when we ran it so that warranted the purchase of a dishwasher and we just decided to replace the range and fridge at the same time as they are about the same age. The range and refrigerator arrived on Monday and the dishwasher arrived today since we had someone install it. Charis has been walking around the kitchen this week saying, “Mama got a new kitchen”! It has been pretty cute. The new color (we went from bisque to black) gives the whole kitchen a new look and updated feel! I am greatly enjoying the new appliances (that is an understatement)! The oven cooks evenly and perfectly. With the old oven one side of the casserole would be more done than the other side and the temperature was a bit off as well. The fridge has an ice maker and light (the bulb died in the old fridge but it was stuck in the socket and would not come out) that work. Our new dishwasher is almost silent which is wonderful as our family room opens to our kitchen and it does not generate a burning smell. It is just like a whole new kitchen!!! Thanks to the fabulous hubby I do love my new kitchen!

An Evening With Alison, DeSha’s and Mr. Hyatt

That is an intriguing title that makes you want to read this post huh! ;) Well, yesterday afternoon Brad and I shipped the kids off and we escaped! That is right we left town for a whole 20 hours and it was fabulous!!! We ventured up to Lexington Kentucky for an Alison Krauss concert. I was not so excited about the concert but definitely excited about the chance to get away with my hubby! We pulled into Lexington around 4:00ish and after checking into the hotel we went on a little walk around downtown to see if we could find any fun shops. We did not find anything to wonderful but we found a beautiful little park that had some fun water fountains. We decided to find a place to grab some dinner before the concert and ended up at DeSha’s. It was a great atmosphere and a yummy dinner (well my dinner was a bit too spicy for me but if I liked spicy it would of been good). The restaurant was pretty busy with a lot of concert goers as well. Even though my dinner was a little spicy the salad and cornbread that they serve were wonderful! We headed back to the room after dinner to relax for a little bit before we headed to the concert. The best part was that our hotel was connected to the arena so we could show up perfectly on time with out having to find a parking place which was a treat! I am a big fan of convenience! Even though I was not so excited about the concert I ended up really enjoying it. We had great seats (10th row) and Alison and Union Station were very entertaining. She and the band both have so much talent! Wow! It was definitely a great concert! One of the best parts of the whole evening though was going up to our room and going to sleep. That is right…sleep! I had a whole uninterrupted night of rest! I love my Cai and I love the sweet gift of being able to feed him but it has been a bit since I have had an uninterrupted night of sleep and it was fabulous! We woke early this morning to head home as Brad needed to head to work and I needed to be home to receive a delivery (more on that in a later blog post). Even though it was a short trip I loved my time with just my hubby, Alison, DeSha and Mr. Hyatt!!! It was a grand escape!

Make New Friends But Keep The Old Ones…

Filed under: Happenings — Joy @ 9:21 pm

Not sure why but that little diddy has been running through my head for over a week now! It was very appropriate last night though as I finally got to meet my wonderful blog friend, her daughter and her parents! We officially met though each others blogs but she and my husband were friends when they were young. I was so excited when I learned that I would get the opportunity to meet her as they passed through town! What a treat! It is sweet to have sisters all over the globe; sisters that I will know for eternity!

Speedy Delivery

Filed under: Silly Somethings — Joy @ 8:18 pm

Mr. McFeely

I guess that no one can top Mr. McFeely from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood as he was the best delivery man ever and oh so speedy! I have to admit though that our UPS man comes very close! He is always friendly and offers to bring in the heavier packages. He just seems to have a big heart! Now on the other hand there is our FedEx man (yes, I am going to complain but I promise that it is valid)! About a week after I had Cai we received a larger package. The man came to the door and asked if we would open the garage so that he could just drop the package off. My answer was no since I could not at the time lift anything and very politely asked him if he could carry it to the front door to bring it just inside the door. Well, with much huffing he did this job (remember this job is his job). I felt a little frustrated with the huffs as it was apart of his job and I did not understand his frustration but just decided that he was having a bad day. Well, my little FedEx man came again this week with another large package and do you know that our front door was open and he did not even knock he just dropped off the packages at the garage door and took off. I am not sure why this bothers me so but I just had to share. It encourages me to do my jobs a little more whole heartedly though. It makes me that much more thankful for the super nice UPS man! Gotta love the big brown trucks!!!

One Shoe Two Shoes

Filed under: Look At Her Grow — Joy @ 11:35 am

Keds

Since Cai was born Charis has seemed so much older! I guess seeing Cai and then seeing Charis I realize just how much she has grown in two years. This morning we were playing in the Living Room (I know I know you aren’t supposed to use your Living Room but we really do use ours and let the kiddos in as well…shocking!) and Charis will normally play around with her shoes for a bit just pretending to put them on but this morning she actually put them on all by herself! I was sitting on the other side of the room honest! She put on the first shoe and I let her know that she did a super job but it was on the wrong foot so she removed it and set to work again. She got both her little shoes on with no problems at all. Wow, that is so sad that she is growing before my very eyes! Yesterday she was dancing around the Kitchen singing her ABC’s, today she put on her shoes what will tomorrow hold?
