I have been anxiously awaiting and excuse to try this little tutorial for quite sometime! Recently one of our friends welcomed a new baby girl and this just seemed like a sweet and fun gift since this friend also sews and already has many of the necessities as this is baby girl number three. I have one cube finished and two more to go but I was excited to share! This really is an easy and quick little project definitely doable in a very short amount of time.

The Garden

This morning I was able to breakaway to a dear friends garden and it is there I spent my morning and part of the afternoon just praying and reading God’s word. It was a sweet blessing to be able to be quite and sit still. I enjoyed also the crisp fall temperatures and seeing nature ever changing before me. This is just a little glimpse of my morning…Enjoy!

Princess And The Pea

Filed under: Happenings,Look At Her Grow — Joy @ 8:41 pm

The princess is getting a big girl bed and I am already wondering about the pea. Charis loves her crib! I am talking big time love here! She refuses to talk about a big girl bed at all. We went shopping this morning and she came along and would not even sit on a bed…that is just how against this whole thing she is. She just isn’t one for change. Alas though the crib is becoming to small and she is becoming to old. We pondered bunk beds for a bit; actually we bought bunk beds and then changed our minds. We settled on a white four poster bed (the poster part is removable). I think that Charis will be much happier with this decision as the bunks have seemed a little scary to her (just a little to closed in). It will make its big arrival a week from this Wednesday. I know that she will find peas in her bed but I hope that she will settle into it and grow to love it. Stay tuned! Oh and yes just in case you were wondering this whole thing is a bit emotional for mom. I already broke down once and I am sure upon the beds arrival there could be another little breakdown. The growth! It is just so quickly!

For Now It Is Okay

At least I think that it is okay! I must admit that I do not think that Brad is wild about it though. I know that my time is quite limited as far as being able to make clothes for Cai especially clothes that match his big sisters outfits. :) I had to do it just once though for a little Happy Harvest outfit (and maybe again towards Thanksgiving as well). I love the little skirt and pants that I made for the kiddos. They are actually flannel so that they will be warm and cozy (even though that does not matter as temps are still pretty warm here). I have black shirts to go with them and I think that I might add a little embroidered pumpkin to the shirts but this all depends on if I can fit that in (there is a lot of Christmas and baby gift sewing going on here). If not I am happy with the skirt and pants and will enjoy them greatly as the kiddos dress alike this one and only time (not counting when they will dress alike at Thanksgiving). :)

And They Are Off

A few weeks ago some wonderful friends of ours welcomed a new baby boy into their family. I was very excited to find some time to finally sit down and make a little something for their two girls (you always need a gift when your world gets a little topsy turvy (baby brothers can do that)) and the new baby boy! For the girls I made little doll blankets and the baby boy gets his own little blanky and a bib (you can never have enough bibs). I am excited to send them off on their way tomorrow…happy snail mail!

First Playgroup

Cai had his first little playgroup this week! We had two friends over Cana who is a week younger than Cai and Noah who is a month younger than Cai. The babies had a great time just being themselves paying no attention whatsoever to each other. Cai even slept through most of it. We laid them all side by side to take some pictures and he just continued to snooze away. He is a funny guy and quite use to sleeping through whatever party his sister is throwing at the time. Cana and Noah were very awake and just gazing around. It was sweet to be with friends and chat a little. Charis did a wonderful job! I had wondered how the time would go but really wanted her to be apart and start learning about how she can have friends as well as Cai. She was a great big sister and played well alongside the babies.

98%

moon.jpg

According to the Weather Underground website 98% of the moon is illumined for us tonight! Who knew! I stumbled upon this fact as I took the trash down to the curb tonight. Well, not the 98% part but the bright part! :) It was quite beautiful and a perfect fall evening. Yes, there are still a few clouds out there but that is a welcome sight because we have so needed the wonderful rain. The cooler temperatures are welcome with their breeze as well. Sorry for the branches in the picture I would of had to stand in the street to get a clear shot and I just kind of felt that my neighbors might find me a bit wacko to be out in the street taking pictures of who knows what. I think that it is kind of pretty though!!! It reminds me of the book I’ll Watch The Moon…great book! Okay, I am rambling now so I should end. I just wanted to share the 98% picture of the moon with you.

Sewing Things That I Can Share

The holidays become hard as I long to share secret little somethings that I am working on but then the surprise would be spoiled for certain visitors of the ole’ blog. Therefore I am excited to finally have something that I can share…I do not think that the recipient visits my blog but hopefully if she does she will act surprised at her shower! :) I have been anxiously awaiting an occasion to make a nursing cover and with a baby shower for a sweet friend in the near future I finally have the opportunity! I am really excited about the fabric as the front fabric is just very my friend. You know how some fabrics just fit a person? I think this is that fabric for her (at any rate it greatly reminds me of her). The back fabric (polka-dots) is actually from my neighbor. Her daughter passed away about two years ago and she shared all her fabric with me because she knew that I sew. Isn’t that a precious thing? I used my nursing cover as a loose pattern which was purchased from two of my friends who also enjoy sewing. This was definitely a fun little project. I need to make a few more things for the gift bag so I will be sharing those a bit later.

And We’re Eating

rice-cereal.jpg

Within the last week I have begun feeding Cai Rice Cereal. It is always such a huge deal as the food begins it signals so much! He is growing out of babyhood and these are the first official steps of weaning. Not just weaning but weaning him from his over protective mommy to be an adult, to be his own little self. Oh parenthood! I know…a little deep! It doesn’t help though that the first week of Rice Cereal he has decided to go longer in between feedings as well. My mommy heart! He is still figuring out the whole swallow the food thing and he is a mighty big fan of blahing it out (especially just when you think that he has swallowed and you are most unprepared to catch the stream that flows). Charis has greatly enjoyed this week and really loves helping Cai eat his cereal (there is usually spoon jabbing involved but she is getting there). You forget all the little things as they grow so quickly. Many times as I am feeding Cai I have a flashback to feeding Charis. Why do they grow so quickly. Alas!
