Blue Purse

Filed under: Crafty — Joy @ 3:29 pm

Sister has been very persistent in having a blue purse made by mama so I whipped this up last night to have a surprise for her this morning. She quickly filled it with her pretend cell phone, keys and even asked for some lollipops to store in it so I think that we might have a winner. I was really excited about the strip of birdie fabric that I found in the scrap pile. It came from a bag of scraps that I purchased somewhere along the way. Sister has three favorite colors so I am sure that soon I will be asked for a purple and red purse as well. ;)

Summer Sling

Filed under: Crafty — Joy @ 2:00 pm

I was able to finish up the Birdie Sling by Amy Butler recently and I am really excited about it! The hubby feels that it is possibly a bit large but I think that it is the perfect amount large, like two kiddos in tow large, which he admitted is handy. There is plenty of room for all the kiddos stuff (diapers, waters, snacks etc.) as well as my own stuff. I also really like having a shoulder strap again as I have been carrying the Sophia bag for a bit. It was pretty easy to put together with no major problems! Sister is asking for a purse of her own now so I guess I have my next project! ;)

How Does Your Garden Grow

Filed under: Gardening, God's Creation — Joy @ 10:31 pm

Being a first time gardener I am not really sure how it grows but I think that it looks pretty good…does that count? I am amazed at how some things have taken off namely the squash and cucumbers. It almost seems like the veggies grow at night. Every morning when I return to the garden, even though I just visited the night before, the veggies look as though they have grown whole inches! Amazing! Not all look this way as I still have some concern for the yellow and green bell peppers but we shall see in time I suppose. I think that I could be getting some carrots in. Not many but maybe a few or they could just be weeds again time will tell! ;) Here are a few pics. I hope that you are not tired of the garden yet as I find it super exciting! Odd, but I find it amazing to watch veggies grow!

Oh and I almost forgot the little patio tomato plant! He is struggling a little I think but he is still producing! I am so excited for them to turn red!

Roar

Filed under: Happenings, Look At Him Grow — Joy @ 11:25 pm

For brothers birthday we celebrated with a lion theme! It was fun to celebrate his first year! Hard to believe that it has been a year and yet it feels like so much longer all at the same time. He is so much fun and his little personality is starting to shine! He was pretty fired up about the cupcake! I made a little mini cupcake to give him (not a fan of huge messes) and he proceeded to cram the whole cupcake in his mouth! Amazing! It took him a while to chew it up well but he was one happy camper!

It All Started With A Tomato Plant

Filed under: Gardening, Happenings — Joy @ 8:43 pm

Yes, that statement is very true…it did all start with a simple little patio tomato plant. I have always wanted to try having a garden. There is just something about growing food that I find very exciting! I decided to get the little tomato plant so that sister and I could have a little project of learning to water and care for the plant. I thought that she would really enjoy it. Well, the tomato plant is actually producing little tomatoes which got me super exited that it had lived long enough to bear fruit and that I had not killed it. It gave me hope that maybe just maybe I could have a garden (I know two totally different scales we are talking pot to plot but I was really excited). After consulting with a friend and dragging another friend around to a few stores, with full intentions not to buy anything yet, I came home with the startings of the garden. I made a small space in the yard and got everything into the ground and we shall see what happens. I have very high hopes but I am just excited to start and whatever happens happens. I figured that I would try this year and next year I will have a much better idea of what to really do and maybe I will make the area a good bit larger next year as well. I had to bunny proof the area really well as we have bunnies-o-plenty around our house. I feel that most of the money went into the caging and gating of the garden but it will be worth it not to have half eaten veggies. I planted a lot for not knowing much so hopefully in a bit we will have some tomatoes (Roma and Big Boys), JalapeƱo Pepper (gotta make salsa), yellow peppers, green peppers, squash, cucumbers and I am trying from seeds carrots as well as okra (I don’t have great hopes for these but we shall see). So there it is! I will keep you updated on the goings on in the garden. Hopefully all will grow!

One Happy Mail Box

Filed under: Silly Somethings — Joy @ 8:14 pm

Went to the mail box yesterday, opened it, chuckled a good bit, then closed it and like any good blogger ran back to the house to grab the camera. Just look how happy he looks crammed full of goodies! That was one determined postal worker to pack all those little packages neatly in there! All packages for the hubby but it was still really fun to find that happy happy mailbox all the same!!!
