Any Serger Thoughts
I have been contemplating a serger for what seems like forever now and I have still come to no definite conclusion so I thought that I would pose the question here and hopefully get some thoughts. I know that a serger speeds up the process of making things but at the same time I still wonder if I really would use it. It seems a little intimidating to me to figure out all that it does but alas everyone tells me that I would love it. Does anyone out there have any thoughts? Do you use one, do you like it and most importantly could you live without it?
Thanks for any thoughts!
I’m with you. I’ve often pondered the purchase too. Can’t wait to hear what others think.

Gma says to ask Mimi when she gets back from GA. Kim J. had one two that, as I recall, she used about. You might ask her, too.
I agree that they are intimidating contraptions, but it seems like you can do amazing things with them!

Ohhh … I so want one to but it’s just so overwhelming. I was leaning toward a Babylock – but no paticular model. I’m trying to decide what I want more … a serger or an embroidery machine … unfortunatley, neither are cheap!

Kim J does have one and wishes she were closer to you and you could use it til you were hooked … which would take about 5 minutes (after you got it threaded)
I can’t direct you to a specific brand . . I got mine on ebay and I don’t recall the brand. Sorry.

(I said Kim J used hers “about” when I meant “a lot.”) She made all sorts of cool overalls and things, as I recall, for her baby girl and to sell on eBay.
They were incredible!

I love my serger! I have had one for almost 5 years and if it broke beyond repair Iwould only be without as long as it took to ship a new one. I’m serious, you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one sooner. I make clothes for my girls, baby items, blankets, repair our own clothing and so much more. If I know of anyone who sews and loves it, a serger will be a purchase they will appreciate for years to come.
