Simply A Tote

Filed under: Books, Crafty — Joy @ 10:44 pm

I finally got around to using Amy Karol’s Bend The Rules Sewing book last week. It has been calling out from the shelf for a very long time. I decided to tackle the Simple Tote as I did not have much time but wanted a little project to finish! I used some of the wonderful Japanese fabric that I had received from Kris awhile back. I am really excited about the tote and plan to use it as a lunch bag!

In other news Blakley has tagged me from Rockin Smokin to grab the nearest book, turn to page 123 and post the 6th, 7th, and 8th sentences so here we go…

Tonights nearest book is Keeping the Sabbath Wholly: Ceasing, Resting, Embracing, Feasting by Marva Dawn and page 123 reads…
“Certainly we can always enjoy other people more fully when no obligations are impinging on our time. In our society it is difficult to embrace people instead of things, to cherish time rather than space. So much of out technologically efficient and materially exploitative culture militates against these values.”
There you have it! Pretty intriguing huh!
I am supposed to tag 5 people but instead I am just going to open it up and if anyone would like to try this go for it! It is kind of interesting to see what turns up!

A Real Find

Filed under: Books — Joy @ 4:03 pm

Last week we made a trip to the used book store as we had piles of books that needed to be traded in. I was not planning on picking up any books for the kiddos as they are pretty set for now just coming through the holidays and all. As I was browsing around though I came across How Big Is God’s Love? by David and Helen Haidle. The cover looked a little cheesy but still I flipped through it I fell quickly in love with the book. The book is based on Ephesians 3:17-19 which says, “May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high His love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it of fully know or understand it.” These verses are very special to me as I pray them for our children often so the book became a must have. The pictures show many different cultures and explain the very vastness of God’s love. I just wanted to share as it has become a very precious book to our family!
