This past week all but one of us has endured the stomach bug! Fun times huh! I am sure that brother hopes he has escaped the bug and the rest of us are thankful that it is over! I did not get to go to this shower over the weekend which was super sad but I am sure everyone was thankful not to bring home a little something extra from the shower in the form of the stomach bug. This coming weekend if all stay well we do get to celebrate a little girl who will be here after the first of the year. I felt that this new little one needed a little dress with matching shoes for her big arrival! Her mommy is not so girly so choosing fabric was tough on this one but I am excited with the way it turned out (good ole’ Joel Dewberry to the rescue). I am looking forward to celebrating this new little one.

I am just starting to think about Christmas gifts around here. I know it is a little late but better late than never. . .right!? These little squares will hopefully one day turn into a basket filled with goodies for sister’s teachers. I cannot believe that it is November! Wow! I have got to get sewing!!!

So, this is a silly thing to blog about but I am okay with that! Joann’s was having a large notions sale a few weeks ago so I decided that it was time for some new pushpins as mine have been around for probably nine years and it just felt like time. There were so many decisions to be made as pushpins have come a long way but here is what I ended up with. . .bright happy colors as well as some button pushpins. The button pins are the best ever as they do not melt when you iron over them. Incredible! I have melted so many pin heads in the past. Who knew. I should of checked into the pushpins a long time ago! I told you this was a silly post! I warned you! Now I just need to make myself a new happy pincushion as the red is not nearly as happy as the little bottle cap pincushions that Jennifer made.

At school last week they put together a little pumpkin patch with story time and games for the kiddos. You were also invited to dress as an animal or a farmer so knowing sister pretty well and knowing that she would not dress as an animal, a farmer it was! I found some super cheap dressalls at a local thrift store and began cutting them apart and sewing onto them and this was the outcome. . .

They were really fun to make! By just sewing fabric over the already existing denim on the back and for the front pocket they had a totally different look. I cut off the bottom denim skirt and cut out a long rectangle for the skirt and gathered it before sewing it on. It came together pretty quickly and super cheaply! Yipppeee!

So, I have high hopes not to buy any more fabric for the rest of the year. I know that is a huge goal but I think that it is possible. . .maybe!!! But a giveaway is not buying. . .right!? See Katie Sew is having a giveaway for her two year blog anniversary. Check it out if you are interested!

Today was Owl Day at preschool and I decided that sister definitely needed an owl dress because I had some cute owl fabric in the stash. Sister found the fabric a few weeks ago at Joann’s and decided it was a must have! The picture isn’t that great (the print is tiny owls and leaves) as it is hard to get a preschooler to hold still!!! The best part to sister about the dress is that the back (it was hard enough to get a front view picture of the dress so I have no pictures of the back) button has an owl on it. She really likes owls! Stay tuned because later in the week they are having farmer day and you never know what the sewing machine will turn out!

I did finish those invitations that I was working on finally! It was a little time consuming with making all the little diapers but in the end I think that it was worth it as I am excited with the way they turned out. Now on to the next ones!

Hey Friends! Here are better pictures of the dress that some of you asked for.

We are still walking through this intense baby boom with our group of friends. We have 3 showers behind us (2 adorable baby girls whom we have welcomed and we are still waiting on the very stubborn 3rd baby) and two showers left for this year. So much FUN!!! I am working on the invites for the next shower it is another cloth diaper shower. I will show pics when they are finished but I keep procrastinating so it could be a little bit.

So, I am super sad because I forgot to take my camera last night to get actual pictures of the bride (again) in the dress. The renewal ceremony was truly a sweet sweet time. It was wonderful to be able to have a time of worship and thanksgiving to God for all that He has brought them through and all that He continues to do in their lives and their marriage. Hopefully when they return from their second honeymoon I will be able to snag some pictures that are much much better than these but for now here is what I have.

This is a close up of the front of the dress. The sleeves ended up being one of my favorite parts of the dress even though I had never made sleeves before.

The dress is very Emma-esque! The overlay on the back hangs down a little farther than the front and it also gathers.
