Escape

Brad and I escaped a few weekends ago to Asheville NC. It was a wonderful little getaway! We ended up staying downtown and having a yummy dinner at a local Italian resturaunt which was super tasty. I was hesitant to go to Biltmore as we have been in the past but I did really want to walk through the gardens there. We ended up buying tickets, as that is what one has to do even if they just want to see the gardens, so after a speed round trip through the house we hit the gardens and spent a large part of the day walking around and seeing many beautiful things. It was really wonderful to just be with Brad and to be unhurried. We both love taking pictures so we spent a lot of time doing just that throughout the garden. I love that we both enjoy pictures and I love that we both see things so differently. Looking through his pictures I gained a new appreciation for some things that I might of passed by as I was able to see them through his eyes. I am much more of a zoom in, close up kind of picture taker and Brad is a whole picture kind of guy which is actually how we are in real life as we deal with things. He is great at seeing the picture as a whole. He can take in the whole story of what is taking place. I however tend to get really intense with the little tiny details of the story. I love that God chose to put us together and I love getting to walk through life approaching things differently and learning from each other.

Tricky Spring

The ole’ blog got a little dusty again! It turns out that after that big cup of tea things went down hill a little more as brother broke out with an allergic reaction to some medication. Thankfully he is on the mend and spring decided to pay us a visit so we have been outside a lot these last few days.

Spring always seems a little tricky as it appears enough to get things blooming and growing and then we will have another cold snap and the cycle continues for a few weeks until it finally decides to set in. We are taking advantage of the tricky spring as I mentioned we have been camped out outside for these last few days trying to drink in all the wonderful sunshine and warm temperatures. Every Spring it never fails that I get so excited about the blooms on the tress and the flowers on the ground. Every year I take pictures of the beauty that surrounds our house. Even though it is always pictures of the Bradford Pear Tree blooming and the Daffodils each year the pictures look a little different and I see a little more detail. I am so thankful that God cares about the details! He cares about the details of our lives both big and small and he even cares about the little tiny and delicate details of blooms. I love that!

Outside Our Door

Filed under: God's Creation, Happenings — Joy @ 11:01 pm

After a long week of snow and cold temps we hit the 60’s this weekend (what a treat). The snow was great but I forgot just how wonderful the 60’s are! These are a few pictures that I took today from just outside our door. I am looking forward to Spring. . .in a few months!

Fall Colors

The colors have been beautiful here this week. There has been a lot of outside time trying to drink it all in. We have had lots of conversations about colors, leaves and how they bring God GLORY and tell of Him and His amazing creation. He is an incredible creator! I am not sure that I ever would of thought to make the leaves turn colors but I am so thankful that He did!

Zoo Day

Filed under: God's Creation, Happenings — Joy @ 7:40 pm

We ventured off to the zoo early this morning to spend some time with our cuzzy (cousin) and Gma (grandmother). It was a beautiful day, just one of those days that makes you want to be outside! Most of the animals were out in full force enjoying the temperature change! The kiddos loved running around the zoo like wild animals although brother was pretty beat (he was falling asleep in the stroller, which he never does) by the time we made it back to the car. Here are a few pictures from our day! Enjoy!!!

This baby Chimp was probably the highlight for me today! He is just two months old!!!

The Zebras were hanging out right up against the fence having their breakfast.

This Gorilla was resting his side up against the viewing area glass. Sister was pretty fascinated with him.

There is always something calming about walking through the butterfly gardens!

This turtle has his neck stuck out all the way! It was almost creepy looking but I am trusting that he can get his long neck back into his shell if need be! ;)

We had a great day at the zoo but we are all pretty worn out! I am looking forward to some relaxing sewing time tonight!!! Woo Hooo!!!!

How Does Your Garden Grow

Filed under: Gardening, God's Creation — Joy @ 10:31 pm

Being a first time gardener I am not really sure how it grows but I think that it looks pretty good…does that count? I am amazed at how some things have taken off namely the squash and cucumbers. It almost seems like the veggies grow at night. Every morning when I return to the garden, even though I just visited the night before, the veggies look as though they have grown whole inches! Amazing! Not all look this way as I still have some concern for the yellow and green bell peppers but we shall see in time I suppose. I think that I could be getting some carrots in. Not many but maybe a few or they could just be weeds again time will tell! ;) Here are a few pics. I hope that you are not tired of the garden yet as I find it super exciting! Odd, but I find it amazing to watch veggies grow!

Oh and I almost forgot the little patio tomato plant! He is struggling a little I think but he is still producing! I am so excited for them to turn red!

Potting Plants

Last week we ventured out to find plants/flowers for many of our pots that are around the front porch and back patio. It was wonderful to have some unhurried time to pick flowers. Sister wanted dandelions but I talked her into a few other actual flowers instead of weeds as we have plenty of those. You can imagine other shoppers faces when sister was very persistent in wanting dandelions! ;) Here is what we ended up with…

Pretend Snow

The day was really quite beautiful here so we decided to go out and enjoy it for a little bit. With warm temps and petals blowing freely in the wind from the Bradford Pear Tree we decided to pretend as though we had snow (sad the things that you have to pretend when you do not get snow). We spent a lot of time scooping up petals and throwing them into the wind or even just letting them blow off our hands. The petals, as they piled up on the ground, even looked like snow!
